This photography art is complex and many layered. Starting with an inspiring photo I've taken somewhere around the world, from New York City to Asia and points in between, I open them in software programs and begin to pull them apart, pixel by pixel. I then "reconstruct" them using filters, masks, and sometimes algorithms I've written to manipulate the colors, textures, lines, and spaces.
I created this piece from several photos taken over a week in NYC, where I lived and worked for many years. It was sitting along one of the avenues downtown and I thought it worthy of a snap.
I took it back, loaded it into the software, and then layer by layer, began combining it with other photos to create a sort of photo collage, or montage. Like other works in this gallery, I pulled it apart by pixels and color tones, then filtered those and layered them all back in to create the piece.
